A podiatrist, or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), is a professional who is trained in the treatment of injuries or issues concerning a person's feet, ankles, and  areas of the lower leg. When it comes to treatments, podiatrists the specialist for all medical problems of each area, including bones, tendons, skin and nerves.  They do surgery to repair any problems in the foot ankle or leg and depending on how much training they have they can do more or less.  Dr. DiNucci can do any procedure on the foot ankle or leg that would need to be performed as a result of his exemplary training.  

To become a podiatrist, one must complete 4 years of medical school, as well as 3 years of a residency where they gain real world experience working at a hospital. After those two requirements are completed, some choose to gain further certifications by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS) in areas such as surgery of the foot and ankle.Dr. DiNucci has also become a fellow of the Association of Extremity Nerve surgeons and the Association of Peripheral Nerve Surgeons.  These are very specialized surgeons that are the elite of the peripheral nerve surgery world.  

Although a podiatrist can treat all the most common problems of foot care, Dr. DiNucci specializes in the most difficult of these.  He specializes in revision cases and nerve injuries which most podiatrists don't do.

They can also be useful if you are curious about maintaining general care for your feet, obtaining orthotics as an example.
